Indian Naval Cheif Admiral Nirmal Verma has said that MiG-29KUB crash which killed two senior Russian pilots on June 23 were due to pilot error. He said, "We have got feedback from Russia (MiG Corporation) that the crash was due to 'pilot error'."

Russian said that pilots were doing combat maneuvers and could not pull out of a dive which resulted in the fatal crash.
Indian Navy has placed two orders of 16 and 29 MiG-29K carrier based fighters jets from Russia. These MiG-29K will be operated from the INS Vikramaditya (refurbished and upgraded Russian Admiral Gorshkov) aircraft carrier and Indigenously constructed Indian aircraft carrier.
