The first Russian aircraft Il-476, a modernized version of the Ilyushin Il-76MD heavy transport aircraft in the city of Ulyanovsk aircraft factory assembly line. Russian United Aircraft Group has announced that its first flight is expected to take place early in 2012.
The Il-476 heavy transport aircraft have reinforced wing, modernized landing gear, PS-90A-76 engines, fully-digital flight control system, new avionics. It ca carry a maximum payload of 50 to 60 tons and 27% increase in range.
The 1st 2 Il-476s are scheduled to be delivered by 2013 and Russian Air Force plans to purchase around 100 Il-476 heavy transport aircraft to replace aged Il-76s.
