Indian Kiran Fighter Jet Trainer Crashes
Earlier this week, a single-seater 'Kiran' aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed.
Trainee pilot Raj Kumar Herojit took off from Hakimpet airstrip at 4.40 pm and had to eject from his aircraft between 4.50 pm and 5.10 pm due to mechanical failure.

Delivery of Talwar Class Stealth Frigates Delayed By Atleast One Year
Delivery of the Talwar class stealth frigates to the IN has been delayed by 12 months. Indian Defence Minister A K Antony has informed the Rajya Sabha that delivery of the first Talwar class stealth frigate will be delayed 12 months, that of 2nd by 11 months and last warship will arrive 14 months late then the scheduled delivery time line.
46 IAF Fighter Jet Crashed in 7 Last Years
On Average Indian Air Force (IAF) is losing over 6 fighter jets each year from last 7 years. This was disclosed by the Indian defense minister A K Antony in front of the Rajya Sabha. He said that IAF has lost 46 fighter jets since 2005.
Turkish T-129 Gunship Helicopter Gets One Step Closer to Production
New prototype of the Turkish T-129 gunship helicopter flew for the first time on 17th August. Prototype aircraft P6 of the T-129 gunship helicopter took off from the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) Akinci-Ankara site at 05:30 Turkish local time and landed after flying for one and half hour.
TAI’s test pilots Adnan Meral and Gokhan Korkmazturk has said that gunship helicopter flew as expected and its first flight was a success.

China Launches Pakistani Communications Satellite PAKSAT-1R
China has launched Pakistan’s first Communications Satellite PAKSAT-1R this Thursday. PAKSAT-1R was on August 14, 2011(Independence Day of Pakistan) at 2117 hrs on board Chinese Satellite Launch Vehicle from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre.
This launch is considered as the first major hallmark of Sino-Pak joint venture. As part of the joint venture agreement Pakistani scientists and engineers have worked closely with their Chinese counterparts. Many of the testing elements were in fact developed by the Pakistani side.

Indian MIG-21 Fighter Jet Crashes in Rajasthan
A MIG-21 fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force has crashed at Nal near Bikaner in Rajasthan.
24-year-old Flying Officer Suraj Pillai was on training exercise when his MiG crashed into the ground resulting in the death of the pilot. Flying Officer Suraj Pillai was recently commissioned into the Indian Air Force.
Nal is being used by the IAF as its forward base in the area. This is the 2nd crash of the very old Indian MiG-21 fighter jet this year. In February, another MIG-21 has crashed due to the suspected engine snag.
