China's Ministry of National Defense has confirmed that the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy (PLA Navy) and United States Navy (USN) conducted their 1st joint anti-piracy exercise in the Gulf of Aden.

Chinese guided missile frigate, Type 054A Yi Yang, and American Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer the USS Winston S. Churchill took part in the exercise.
