Iran has imported high grade, refined alumina ore from Germany and France which could be used by its scientsts to produce ballistic missile components. New sanctions by the United States which came into effect on July 1 will cover "raw or semi-finished metals" that include aluminum."
Global Trade Information Services has confirmed that Germany and France along with other European countries sold around 4,000 metric tons of alumina had been sold to Iran during period of January 2012 and March 2013.
