F-16 Fighting Falcon Fighter Jet With Diverterless Supersonic Inlet (DSI).
Diverterless Supersonic Inlet (DSI) offered better subsonic specific excess power and its thrust characteristics were very similar to standard production F-16 aircraft with the same General Electric F110-GE-129 engine.
F-16 Fighting Falcon Fighter Jet was modified with Diverterless Supersonic Inlet (DSI) to help in development of JSF ( F-35 Lightning II). At supersonic speeds, DSI bump redirects unwanted boundary layer airflow away from the inlet. The Diverterless Supersonic Inlet (DSI) with F-16 test program lasted twelve flights flown in nine days in December 1996.
