Syria has placed an order for the purchase of 36 Russian Yak-130 subsonic advanced fighter jet trainer at an estimated cost of $550 million.
Russian sources has confirmed that deal for the sale of new Russian trainer/light attack aircraft was signed with the Syria in December last year.
The Yak-130 has been designed to to replicate the capabilities of the advance fourth and fifth generation fighter jets. It can also act as point defense & light-attack fighter jet and carry upto 3,000 kg of weapons.
