US to Decide on Sale of 66 F-16 C/D Block 52+ to Taiwan

United States’ Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has confirmed that US will decide about the sale of new F-16 C/D Block 52+ fighter aircrafts to Taiwan by Oct. 1 this year. Taiwan has been making repeated requests for the purchase of new F-16 fighter jets to increase its defenses against the growing PLAAF.

United State has declined Taiwan's letter of request (LOR) for 66 F-16C/D block 52+ fighter aircrafts at cost of over $8 billion many times in the past few years because of the fear of strong Chinese reaction to such sale.

South Korean Defence Minister Visits PLAAF's AirBase

Chinese government has displayed its J-10 fighter aircrafts to the visiting South Korean defense minister in order to increase the trust level and bilateral defense exchanges.

South Korean Defense Minister Kim Kwan-jin was allowed to visit the PLAAF's airbase in Changzhou, Jiangsu province 200 kilometers south of Beijing.

Chinese Z-19 Light Gunship Helicopter

Chinese Z-19 gunship helicopter is a development of the Z-9WA helicopter with new forwarded fuselage. Z-19 helicopter uses the tandem seat layout which is similar to one being used on the other gunship helicopters like Z-10, TAI T-129, AH-1Z Viper, AH-64 Apache, Eurocopter Tiger, Mil Mi-28 and HAL Light Combat Helicopter.

Pakistan Starts the Construction of Fast Attack Missile Craft

Lt. General Shahid Iqbal was the guest of honor at the keel laying ceremony of the fast attack missile craft boat as guest of honor. Karachi Shipyard will construction a Fast Attack Missile Craft with Chinese help for the Pakistan Navy. Pakistan navy ordered two such missile crafts. Missile craft will be armed with 8 C-802A anti-ship missiles and a CIWS.

USAF F-15Es Intercepted 3 Private Aircrafts in Last Two Days Near Camp David

Two F-15E fighter aircrafts of the United States’ Air Force intercepted a small private passenger aircraft this Sunday near Camp David during the visit of the US President Obama.

This was the third interception in the last two days and fifth overall during last 30 days.

Brazil Postpones FX-2 Fighter Jet Decision Until to Next Year

Brazilian Defence Minister Nelson Azevedo Jobim has a announced that Brazilian Air Force will finally decide about the purchase of new fighter aircrafts by early next year. Brazilian contract is worth $5 billion. 

He said that at this moment our domestic issues are of more importance and therefore Brazilian Air Force will wait till next year to take the final decision about the winner of the contract for fighter aircrafts.

Taiwan Tests Submarine Launched Anti-Ship Missile

Taiwan has successfully tested an indigenously developed anti-ship missile from submarine for the first time. Taiwan has already developed the surface and air launched versions of the Hsiung Feng II (Brave Wind II) anti-ship missiles.

Submarine launched version of the the Hsiung Feng II anti-ship missile was test fired from the Sword Dragon class submarine.

Chinese Type 091 Han Class Nuclear-Powered Submarine

Type 091 was the first Chinese nuclear-propelled submarine design. Type 091 also known as Han class were produced by the Huludao Shipyard in Liaoning Province.First two submarines Han class may no longer be operational while remaining boats underwent an extensive upgrade and are fully operational with the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN).

India to Test New 'Prahaar' Quick-Reaction Artillery Rocket System

Director General of the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO)m V.K. Saraswat has said that India is all set to test new short range, quick-reaction missile on July 17. This new quick response multi-barrel rocket system has been named ‘Prahaar'.

Prahaar quick-reaction missile will be able to strike targets at range of 150 kilometers. Prahaar is a guided missile which will be used by the Indian armed forces to fill the gap between short range unguided rockets like Indian 40 kilometer range multi-barrel rocket system, Pinaka  and 350 kilometer range Prithvi-II ballistic missiles. 

RN's Sea King AEW7 Helps in Operations Against Talibans

United Kingdom is using its Sea King AEW7 (also known as ASaC7) helicopter for the intelligence, surveillance, early enemy detection missions against the land targets for supporting ground forces in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan. Commander of the Sea King Force, Pat Douglas said that it has been operating Sea King Mark 7 helicopters in Afghanistan for two years.

RSM-56 Bulava (SS-NX-30) SLBM Ready for Serial Production

Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov has said that RSM-56 Bulava submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) is ready for serial production. Russia had successfully test fired Bulava SLBM from the new generation 'Yuri Dolgoruky' strategic missile submarine on June 28.

French Rafale Fighter Jets Makes Emergency Landing in Malta

French Rafale fighter aircraft landed in Malta after suffering from the technical problem. Pair of Rafale fighter aircrafts of the French Air Force (Armée de l'Air) had to make an emergency landing due to technical issues.

IRIS-T SL (Surface Launched) Test Fired Successfully

Diehl Defence has tested IRIS-T SL  (Surface Launched) at the OTB Firing Range in South Africa. Two tests were conducted in the presence of representatives of the German defense ministry.

These two tests were aimed at demonstrating the IRIS-T SL missile's capability to be safely launched from the carrier vehicle, performance of the new rocket motor and data transmission via data link during the flight.

MiG-29KUB Crash was Due to Pilot Error

Indian Naval Cheif Admiral Nirmal Verma has said that MiG-29KUB crash which killed two senior Russian pilots on June 23 were due to pilot error. He said, "We have got feedback from Russia (MiG Corporation) that the crash was due to 'pilot error'."
