China has signed an agreement purchase 123 Russian Lyulka-Saturn AL-31FN turbofan engine to continue the production of the J-10 Fighter Jets.
China will take the delivery of first 13 before the end of this year while remaining 110 AL-31FN engines by 2013. Total deal is worth $500 million.
Chinese J-10 fighter jet is powered by the Russian Lyulka-Saturn AL-31FN turbofan engines. This new order has been placed due to the difficulties in mass production of the WS-10A (WoShan-10A) turbofan engines and increased priority of WS-10A turbofan engines for the J-11B fighter jets.
