Due to delays in providing spare parts to Indian to maintain IAF aircraft, helicopters and other weapon systems, India is now looking for global suppliers for spare parts.
Indian air force wants to purchase spareparts for its Mig-29 fighter aircrafs, IL-76 and AN-32 transport aircraft, Mi-17 helicopters and OSA-AK surface-to-air missile systems. Indian army is looking for "active protection and counter-measure systems'' for its T-90S tanks.
India has purchased Russian defense equipeement worth over $35 billion since the 1960s and different weapon systems worth another $15 billion or so is still being purchased. Indian air force is purchasing 272 Sukhoi-30MKIs and also plans to purchase 250 to 300 of the stealth fifth-generation fighter aircraft (FGFA) at cost of $35 billion.
