Indonesian Air Force will get its first of eight EMB-314 Super Tucano light attack and advanced training turboprop aircrafts in 2012. Embraer has announced that contract has been finalized in this regard and it will cover logistics for the successful operations of the Super Tucano aircrafts.
EMB-314 Super Tucano was declared the winner of the competition held for the Indonesian Air Force by the Indonesian Ministry of Defense, in November 2010.
EMB-314 Super Tucano can be used in light attack, surveillance and counter insurgency modes. Aircraft has 5 weapons stations to carry a maximum payload of 1,500kg.
Super Tucano can carry 12.7mm machine guns fitted under its wings or it can carry different air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles.
