Indian Navy has demanded detailed briefing over the crash of a MiG-29KUB fighter jet, which was manufactured for the Indian Navy. This briefing will play an important role in determining if th problem is sufficient enough to force Indian Navy's MiG-29Ks which are already in service.
Indian Navy has ordered 12 MiG 29K and 4 MiG-29KUB fighter jets from Russia at cost of over $ 900 million in 2004. Four MiG-29K Fighter jets are already in service at Goa.
Indian Naval Cief Admiral Nirmal Verma said "We have sought clarifications from the Russian company as the aircraft was still with them and was being flown by their own pilots. At the moment, we have not received feedback, but if there is a technical reason that demands grounding, we will do that".
Indian Navy plans to operate MiG-29K and MiG-29KUB from the refurbished Admiral Gorshkov aircraft carrier. Indian Navy has already placed order for second batch of 29 MiG 29K and MiG-29KUB for locally produced aircraft carrier.
Russia has already decided to ground its entire fleet of MiG-29 fighter jets till the investigation of the incident can be completed.
