Indian Agni V Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBM) |
Indian Air Chief says that India should design and produce intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM) with which can suppress the planned capabilities of the Agni-V ICBM which has range of over 5,000 km. He argued that India must look beyond its traditional enemies Pakistan & China.

Hindustan Times has reported that Indian air force chief said, "There's no point capping the missile programme at 5,000 km. If we have the technical capability, we should build on it."
Currently only Russia, United States, and China has deployed both land-based intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) and Submarine-launched ballistic missiles (SLBM), while United Kingdom, France rely on their long range SLBMs.
According to the some intelligence reports, outside these five countries only North Korea and Iran are believed to be developing ICBMs.
Indian announcement to test Agni-V ICBM and call by the Indian air force chief for the development of the ICBM with ranges over 10000 kilometers makes India only country outside P5 which is developing ICBMs.
INDIA shud increase its nuclear capacities in (ICBM) & (SLBM)with 10000kms range & look beyond not just CHINA or PAKISTAN.
ReplyDeleteWith China onrise we Indians need to have a credible nuclear squadron near our borders.
Developing long range ballistic missile would have to be an indigenous effort as it comes under global restrictive regimes. Why cannot ISRO with capabilities to propel rockets up to 10,000km help DRDO make 8,000km ballistic missiles? These hard questions need to be examined to produce long range icbm for the nuclear submarines
ReplyDeleteIndia should manufacture rockets able to travel 15,000km or more. This is to enable India to whack places like Boston, Philadelphia and Plymouth which are all located on the eastern seaboard. Pakistan is just a small village across the border compared to these faraway places.
