TAI Anka (Turkish for Phoenix) Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) is under development for the Turkish Air Force.TAI Anka UAV will have endurance of 24 hours and it will be able to fly at altitudes up to 9,150m.
Anka UAV will be capable of providing real-time intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance to the Turkish army and air force. Aselsan Aselflir-300T electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) sensor and a synthetic aperture radar/ground moving target indicator for the Anka UAV.
Turkish Anka unmanned air vehicle flew for the first time for about 14minutes on 30 December2010.
Turkish Anka TIHA UAV is 8 meters long, has a wingspan of 17.3 meters. Turkish Anka UAV can carry a payload of 200kg and it has MTOW (maximum take-off weight) of 1,600kg.
Turkish Aerospace Industries is the prime contractor in the Anka UAV project and it is responsible to produce 3 prototype of Anka TIHA and related ground control systems at cost of $107 million.
