Indian air force is all set to receive 4 out of 6 C-130J Super Hercules transport aircrafts by the end of this month. India had placed an order for 6 C-130J Super Hercules transport aircrafts for $ 970 million in 2008.

Indian air force officials has confirmed that 2 C-130J Super Hercules are already at the Hindon air base and another 2 will join the IAF fleet by the end of June 2011.


C-130J Super Hercules aircrafts will enhance special operations capabilities of the Indian air force. These new aircrafts are equipped with special mission equipment to fulfill the role of transporting the special forces from one place to another.

These aircrafts are capable of precision low- level flying, landing in dark,operations in the hostile air defence environment with help of radar warning receivers and counter measure dispensing system. They carry refuelling probes to extend their range by refueling in the air.

Indian air force also plans to order another batch of 6 C-130J Super Hercules aircrafts in near future.
