Indian Air Force is looking to use Lengpui Airport as forward operating base for its operations in the area. Indian Air Force will install radar and for station 4 fighter jets at Lengpui Airport in south Mizoram.
Indian Air Force is planning to build 4 blast pans to keep the fighter jets safe. Lengpui Airport has 2,500 m long runway and it is was competed in 1998 at cost of over 97 crores.
Decision to install a radar and station 4 4 fighter jets of the Indian Air Force was announced after the meeting between the statement said after Air Marshal K K Nohwar and the Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla of Mizoram State in North Eastern India.
