United States may offer its latest fifth generation F-35 stealth fighter jet to the Indian air force. Lockheed is trying to reenter into the MMRCA fighter jet competition after its offer to sell F-16IN Block 70 was rejected by the Indians.

United States Senate Armed Services Committee has asked the US Defense Department to conduct feasibility of selling F-35 JSF (joint strike fighter) to the Indian air force.


Earlier, Indian air force rejected the US offers to sell F-16IN Block 70 & F/A-18 E/F Block II and went ahead with European Rafael and Typhoon fighter jets.

Indian air fore has already joined forces with Russian air force and invested in the Russian fifth generation PAK FA fighter jets and plans to purchase around 250 to 300 fighter jets.
